About the Chapter

Established in April 2011 as the first presence of Women In Defense in the upper Midwest of the United States. Professional development and networking advantages are available to the many defense-related industries and the military in Minnesota and surrounding states.

This website is designed to keep you informed of everything that is going on with WID-MN. Information and events are added frequently so keep visiting.

Membership

Membership in WID-MN is automatic when you become a member of the national organization.
Membership in WID is open to all professional women and men whose primary professional activities are related to national defense or any aspect of national security. All WID members are automatically members of NDIA at no additional cost. Benefits of membership include:

• Networking and Professional Development Opportunities
• WID Newsletter
• WID Membership Directory
• Access to NDIA Job Bank
• WID Membership Pins
• Subscription to National Defense (the magazine of NDIA)
• Automatic membership in both WID-MN as well as the national organization for Women In Defense

Members are strongly encouraged to participate in meetings, seminars, and committee activities to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship between themselves and the organization.

Membership Dues
Annual (1 year) dues: $35
Lifetime membership: $500
Government & Military dues (3 year): Complimentary -  Download/View/Print application

As a result of WID’s status as an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), WID members are automatically members of NDIA and eligible for the privileges and rights of both organizations.

Programs

STEM:
Encouraging students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is one focal point for the Minnesota chapter. Please stay tuned for more. STEM is important not only to Minnesota’s economic stability but to the nation’s security as well. WID and NDIA support efforts to draw and keep students in STEM-related endeavors and careers.

Dress for Success:
Chapter leaders are researching how Dress for Success can benefit the communities the WID Minnesota Chapter serves. Established in 1997, Dress For Success has helped countless disadvantaged women enter the work force with gently used dresses and suits in every size. The donations of clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and even computers have changed many of these women's lives.
