About the Chapter

The year 2011 is the tenth anniversary for the Iowa/Illinois Chapter, the first WID chapter in the current form.

Women In Defense (WID), A National Security Organization, an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), is a professional organization for individuals whose careers are related to the defense of the United States and national security.

The Iowa/Illinois chapter was formed in 2001. WID provides its members with opportunities for professional development, a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences, a vehicle for expanding networks. It also provides opportunities for members to meet and interact with officials from Government and industry in open discussions on key issues.

Iowa/Illinois Chapter has established a scholarship program that benefits local high school and college students. Since our inception we have awarded several thousands of dollars in academic scholarships to deserving students.

Members of the Iowa/Illinois Chapter are concentrated in the Quad City area. Representatives from government, military installations and industry firms provide the chapter as a source of networking, educations, and career development.

The Women In Defense Iowa/Illinois Chapter is pleased to announce our 2012 Scholarship Application. All applications must be postmarked no later than April 13, 2012.
